Running ha-bridge inside LibreELEC on your Pi2/3…yes, really!

This is huge! Thanks to aptalca for creating an arm based Docker container for the Raspberry Pi (and Odroid C2!) that allows ha-bridge to run inside the LibreELEC Docker add-on! First thing you need to do is ensure your Raspberry Pi LibreELEC has a static IP address so you always know how to get to the ha-bridge web interface. Kodi > Programs > LibreELEC configuration > Connections then select your active connection (LAN or Wi-Fi) and use the context menu to select ‘ Edit ’. Scroll to IPV4 and change your IP address settings so they are static by using the Manual settings. Of course, you could always create a DHCP lease in your router if you are savvy with that and that is the better way to go.

Adding 4 relays to your Home Assistant Pi with Arduino UNO

For those that want 4 relays cheaply using a clone of the Seeed studio V2.0 relay board available on AliExpress here , this is how it's configured in HA. Simply follow the Arduino instructions to load the Firmata firmware on your board then plug the Arduino board into your Raspberry Pi.

Installing ha-bridge on your Raspberry Pi

EDIT: Updated 14th June 2017 to reflect version 4.5.5. Default port is now 80 to keep Google Home happy and service now supports MQTT! Advice on backups also added 7th Feb. Version 4x also supports adding a Home Assistant instance which is great! Want to control your Vera, Harmony hub or Home Assistant entities with your Amazon echo or Google Home? ha-bridge is the best way to achieve that and installation is actually quite easy and takes less than 5 minutes. Here are the steps.

Wrong date and time on Raspberry Pi running Domoticz

I recently booted up an old instance of Domoticz home automation software on one of my Raspberry Pi's with a PiFace interface. I noted that the time and date were out by three months and even though I had a valid network connection and pinging the NTP time servers was possible, the date and time would never update. I spent about 40 minutes on Mr Google trying various things and this is what worked. Login to your Pi using SSH Ensure your Pi can ping a time server ping 0.debian.pool.ntp.org Stop the NTP service sudo service ntp stop Force a time check sudo ntpd -gq Restart the NTP service sudo service ntp start Check the date and time ntptime Should now report back the correct date and time?

How To remap CEC buttons on a Sony TV Remote for XBMC under OpenELEC 3.1.6

I recently configured a Raspberry Pi for a friend using OpenELEC and a Sony 46" LCD. It worked flawlessly with CEC support although there were a few commands that the Sony TV (remote) would not pass through the HDMI cable to the Pi. As such, I had no Context Menu or Info button which are both rather useful. After spending a few hours searching about, I managed to resolve it by remapping the coloured buttons below the D-Pad to perform the following: Red = Context Menu Blue = Info Yellow = Update video library Green = Clean video library

How To move your BOOT partition to a USB flash drive or external HDD under Xbian

I wanted to try this to see if my 1.0.5a Frodo 12.2 Xbian build would boot any faster with the Xbian boot partition on a USB2 flash drive or portable hard drive. As my video library was already on a Western Digital 320GB 2.5" portable HDD, it made sense to just create another partition on there to support the boot process. What follows is how I achieved this.

Xbian won't play MVK files

Had me stumped for a while before a light bulb went off in my head. I was getting a grey screen with the sound in the background, the GUI would stay visible (i.e. The movie selection screen would not go away) and attempts to do anything else locked up the Pi.
