To connect to our shiny new Samba server, we’re going to work with a fictitious setup involving a Samba server and a Windows client workstation.
All initial tests should be done via the command line. Otherwise, if something doesn’t work quite the way you expect it to, there are a lot less layers of technology to diagnose between you and the command you want to implement. From a command prompt, type the following:
At this point, open up My Computer and you should see that you have a new mapped drive (J in this case) pointing to the 'pub' directory on your server.
